Select Criminal Defense & Sentencing

My practice is primarily focused on family and children’s law, but I also accept selected criminal matters where the scope and circumstances fit my practice. I do not market myself as a full-service criminal-defense firm, and I do not accept every type of criminal case.

Selected misdemeanor matters

I may accept representation in certain misdemeanor cases, including matters where the legal and factual issues are reasonably defined and the case is appropriate for my practice.

Sentencing and sentencing after revocation

I represent clients in selected sentencing proceedings, including sentencing after revocation. These hearings require a focused presentation of the offense, the client’s history and character, supervision record, treatment needs, public-safety considerations, and realistic sentencing alternatives.

Standby and limited criminal representation

In appropriate cases, I may serve in a limited or standby role for a particular proceeding rather than representing a defendant through the entire criminal case.

Case-by-case acceptance

Criminal cases can involve strict deadlines, collateral consequences, and significant liberty interests. If a matter falls outside the scope of what I can responsibly handle, I will recommend that the person seek a lawyer whose practice is more specifically devoted to that type of case.
