Checking out the balloons
There aren’t 99 of them, but I love it whenever I see them take off.
Chasing hot air balloons through Southwestern Wisconsin a few years ago. These were part of the Colony Brands Balloon Rally.
South Central Wisconsin Fossiliferous Limestone
Limestone, from the Latin limus meaning “mud.” That is because it takes millions of years of mud at the bottom of shallow lakes to layer on top of each other until limestone is formed.
Limestone also takes is meaning from the product when you burn the stone: Lime.
This limestone is found all over South Central Wisconsin. This limestone happens to be in the basement of my 156 year old house instead of concrete. Can you see where the fossils are? How cools is that?! Fossils. In my wall. In my basement. Millions of years old. #Epic
